2017 Events

Spirit of the North will be presenting over 30 exciting concerts and workshops in Smithers. Experience solo acts from internationally-renowned musicians, chamber music, new music concerts, interactive events, and symphony concerts – all in 3 days! Mark your calendars for August 10 – 12, 2017.

Festival Artists

This year’s festival features artists from the north and beyond: the Juno-nominated Turning Point Ensemble, OSO music director and conductor Rosemary Thomson, Smithers’ own Roxi Dykstra back from Europe, alphorn players Keith Berg and Jane Houlden, indie folk artists The Aerialists, and over 100 musicians from the Orchestra North Summer Program!

Held in beautiful Smithers, BC, the Spirit of the North Festival brings high quality classical music to the north. Featuring world-class musicians, full orchestras, and new compositions, the festival will showcase a variety of styles, and will offer artists and audiences alike the opportunity to experience everything from classic favourites to new avenues of expression in music.
